- Buzz Stevenson – retiring after 29 years as track and cross country coach for DSU. Named SDIC Coach of the Year 14 times and Great Plains Regional Cross Country Coach of the Year twice. His teams won 14 SDIC conference championships, produced 52 All Americans and 2 National Champions.
- Desa Rae (Doyle) Cleveland – National High Jump champion in 2000 with a jump of 5’ 8.5”. Four-time NAIA All-American.
- Amy (Hansen) Tvedt - three-time NAIA All-American for 3000 meters and cross country. Placed fourth at the NAIA Indoor Track Nationals in 1996 and fifth in 1997.
- Lorin Larsen (posthumously) - four-time Most Valuable Athlete at the South Dakota Intercollegiate (SDIC) conference meet. Still holds DSU long jump record with a jump 24’ 5” in 1984 and triple jump record with 48’ 1”. Anchored record-setting men’s 1600-meter relay that timed in at 3:16.40 thirty years ago
- Ryan Phillips – 1993 All American for Indoor Track. All District 12 in 1992 and 1993. SDIC Most Valuable Athlete in 1993.
