Motongator Joe’s Country Music Festival

Prairie Village

The 3rd annual Motongator Joe’s Country Music Festival is scheduled once again at Prairie Village in Madison, SD for June 25, 26, 27, 2010.

With the immense support from Knology, Miller Lite and other area businesses, national touring country music acts including: John Anderson, Ty Herndon, and David ball will be showcased over the 3 days.

Over 20 acts are scheduled to appear and include: Slackwater Jack, Clay Creek Deaf Cowboy Band, Motongator Joe and more!

“What a wonderful outpouring of support we have enjoyed from all. [It] gives me a promising glimpse of what the futures holds for our festival and for the area businesses that will benefit from this source of tourism. For this rock pickin’ farm boy, it’s great to see the excitement and anticipation people have about the festival,” says Motongator Joe.

2008 marked the first year for Motongator Joe’s Country Music Festival in Madison. With an already successful country music festival over 12 years old at his ranch in Michigan, and the great support and following by South Dakotans of his live touring show, Joe saw not only the potential, but the need for country entertainment in South Dakota. After visiting a number of locations that ‘could have worked’, Joe was introduced to Prairie Village in Madison.

Joe says, “I just felt it as soon as I walked on the grounds. It spoke to me and brought together everything Motongator Joe’s Country Music Festival stands for: country living, family, life lessons, music and camping but especially affordability for the blue collar, hardworking person.”

After developing a plan and a relationship, Prairie Village and Motongator Joe were able to lay the foundation for this annual festival for many years to come.

While carry-ins are allowed, food and novelty vendors including the Prairie Village Cook Shack will be available. The seating is a ‘bring your own lawn chair’ general admission set up and parking is FREE. Prairie Village will also be operating their steam powered train and carousel throughout the weekend. Tickets to the festival are available indefinitely, while campsites are limited.

“We encourage anybody with questions or comments to call anytime. We are also interested in hearing from other local businesses with their ideas or thoughts about how we can work together to better serve the community.”
